Gaining Recognition
As Singapore swiftly embraces green transformation, sustainable initiatives are no longer just a niche concept, they are becoming part of everyday life. From neighbourhood void decks to community spaces, our refill stations are quietly reshaping the way Singaporeans consume. And we’ve reached a meaningful milestone: Channel NewsAsia (CNA), one of Singapore’s major national media outlets, recently featured our growing refill movement.
In the article, “Why vending machines are popping up all over Singapore”, CNA sheds light on how vending machines today go far beyond dispensing snacks and drinks. Highlighted in the article is how our refill stations play a deeper role in shaping everyday behaviours by providing access to zero-waste, sustainable cleaning product refills. Being placed in residential areas, our refill stations help to cultivate eco-conscious habits into the spaces where people live.
Building a Network of Refill Stations Across Singapore
At Ecoworks, our vision has always been to make sustainability easy and accessible. As of present, we’ve rolled out over 16 refill stations across the island. All of our stations are located right where people live such as HDB void decks, resident network centres, and other high-footfall areas.
We enable households to reuse existing bottles for refilling their everyday essentials like laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid. Unlike buying refill pouches, which fundamentally is still plastic waste, our initiative helps reduce single-use plastic packaging at the source. The response has been encouraging, especially among young families, who are actively looking for ways to cut waste and model eco-conscious habits for the next generation.
Meet the Founder: Sean Lam
At the heart of Ecoworks is a clear, community-driven vision led by our founder, Sean Lam.
“Plenty of green initiatives here revolve around recycling, but the reuse component is lacking. We are part of that solution. The bottle you have is still good enough for a second, third life.”
Motivated by this gap, Sean founded Ecoworks to help bridge it. Ecoworks is building a network of convenient, neighbourhood-based cleaning product refill stations that make sustainable living a practical everyday choice for Singaporeans. What started as an idea to rethink how we consume has become an encouraging movement.
“Demand and interest in the machines have been strong, especially among public housing estates with Build-to-Order flats, home to many young families.” More people are making conscious choices and environmental responsibility is something Singaporean households have come to embrace.
